How to Prepare for Interviews in Indore: Tips from a Placement Consultant
Unique Placements, Indore · 2026-10-13Whether you are a fresh graduate from a college in Indore or an experienced professional changing jobs, preparation is the biggest thing you control in an interview. These steps come from what we see every day as a job consultancy and placement agency in Indore.
Step 1: Get your resume right
- One to two pages, clear headings, easy to read on a phone as well as on paper.
- Start with a two-line summary, then skills, experience (latest first) and education.
- Use real results, such as "handled 40 invoices a day" or "supported a team of 6", only if they are true and you can explain them.
- Keep a PDF version and a printed copy for the interview.
Step 2: Research the company and the role
Read the company website and social pages, know what it sells, who its customers are and what the role does day to day. Check the location. Indore traffic is unpredictable, so find out how to reach Vijay Nagar, the Super Corridor, Pithampur or Sudama Nagar and plan to arrive 15 to 20 minutes early.
Step 3: Prepare for common questions
- "Tell me about yourself." Give a 60-second answer: your background, your recent work and why this role.
- "Why do you want to leave your current job?" Be positive: growth, learning, a better fit. Never criticise your employer.
- "What are your strengths and weaknesses?" Choose real ones and show how you manage the weakness.
- "Where do you see yourself in five years?" Show you want to grow in the field.
- Salary expectation. Know the market range and your current pay. State a reasonable range and stay open to discussion.
Step 4: Use the STAR method for behavioural questions
When asked "Tell me about a time you handled a difficult customer or a tight deadline", answer in four parts: Situation (what was happening), Task (your responsibility), Action (what you did) and Result (what happened). Practise two or three stories out loud.
Step 5: Prepare for the role's practical test
Accounts roles may include a Tally or Excel test, data entry roles a typing test, and sales roles a role-play. IT roles may include coding or technical questions. Practise the specific skill the job needs.
Step 6: Presentation and documents
- Dress neatly in formal or smart-casual clothes that match the company.
- Carry copies of your resume, ID, education certificates, experience letters and recent salary slips.
- Switch your phone to silent and be polite to everyone, including reception staff.
Step 7: After the interview
Send a short thank-you message, and tell your recruiter how it went. If you do not get the job, ask for feedback and learn from it.
